The phone has been ringing non stop and the emails are pouring in at the Dothan city schools headquarters, especially in the personnel office.
"We have close to fifty positions that are still open," says Personnel Director Dell Goodwin
Positions that need to be filled just in time for the 2012-2013 school year.
And no position is off limits.
"From lunch room workers, custodians, classroom teachers, assistant principles, a principal, so we have a gamete of employment opportunities," says Dell Goodwin.
One thing is for sure the independence holiday has not stopped the applicants from applying or checking the status of their applications.
"With the internet the web based applications we have online I continuously, get calls or emails, concerning employment even over the holidays, that doesn't stop people for looking for jobs," says Dell Goodwin.
The personnel department goes over each application carefully looking for the best and qualified candidates, always looking for the signature of approval from the superintendant.
Right now they are looking to hire fifteen teachers.
"We're really close on hiring those teachers, we have a board meeting on the sixteenth of July, so we'll get a lot of those hired," says Superintendent Tim Wilder.
So those who have applied will be hearing the news soon and candidates are coming from everywhere.
"I talked to a young gentleman who called from Florida that's looking for something, and just wanted to come up and see our systems.
A system that is in need of finding candidates perfect for the children of Dothan City Schools.
