(Dothan, AL)-- Dothan City School Board Members are considering re-instating a transportation bus system for Pre-k and Head-Start students. Super Intendent Tim Wilder recommended the plan for the 2012-2013 school year during Tuesday's board meeting.
"It's something I've been considering for a while and I understand the argument on both sides," Wilder said. "I believe these Head Start students are the future of our schools and we need to offer them transportation," Wilder said.
The program would require five buses, and 14 teachers aides to accompany each bus route. To keep the cost down Wilder said existing buses and teachers would be used, however the program would cost around $40,000.
Board members said they will have to consider all costs before making a final decision.
