WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-AL) announced today that Hunter Harris, from Dothan, Ala., recently completed a Congressional internship in the Washington, D.C. office.

During his internship, Harris assisted Rep. Roby and staff members on a variety of tasks, including legislative research, record keeping and administrative duties. Rep. Roby thanked Harris for his hard work while in Washington.

“I appreciate Hunter’s work on behalf of the Second Congressional District this summer in Washington, D.C.,” Roby said. “I once served as a Congressional intern myself, so I understand how valuable the experience of spending time in the halls of Congress can be to understanding how our government works. Hunter is a focused and talented young man, and I wish him all the best as he finishes his degree and prepares for a career.”

A 2010 graduate of Houston Academy, Harris, 21, is currently a rising senior at The University of Alabama where he studies Political Science and Philosophy. He is a member of The University of Alabama’s College Republicans and an officer of the UA Fly Fishing Club. He is the son of Dr. Steve and Vicki Harris, of Dothan, Ala.

Congressional interns observe and take part in the workings of the United States Congress. Experience gained from these internships help students develop knowledge of the government and various policy issues, as well as professional skills that will be valuable in future pursuits.
