The Dothan Rescue Mission serves hot meals daily to those in need and today was no exception.
They group served Thanksgiving dinner to about 100 people this afternoon. The spread included four donated turkeys, ham and other holiday staples.
Volunteers say that the food they serve does more than just fix a hungry stomach.
“I came in like a lot of people, I came in off the street, I didn’t have a place to go and it was kind of my last hope and I was kind of scared, but once I got in here and started helping and stuff like that I saw that this was something I could be proud of. It is not a glamorous job, but it something that I enjoy very much,” said Dothan Rescue Mission Kitchen Manager Sam Hallmark.
During the week, the rescue mission serves three meals a day at their location off of Appletree Street. Everyone is welcome to attend.
