Dothan Police Department Helps Shoppers Stay Safe

The holiday shopping season is upon us and while big savings are on the minds of many shoppers, the Dothan Police Department is thinking about your safety.

Starting at 4 a.m. on Black Friday officers will be patrolling local shopping centers. They will be watching for suspicious activity, pan handlers and crimes of opportunity.

Officers have some simple tips that you can do to keep yourself from becoming a victim of holiday crime.

“Some of the things I could suggest was if you leave one store and go to another place your packages that you buy in truck of your car before you go to store “B”. Don’t leave your vehicle unlocked, that is a primary thing,” explained Major Steve Parrish with the Dothan Police Department.

Parrish also said that criminals often choose targets they feel will be easy. Locking your purchases in your trunk makes it harder for thieves to make you a victim.
