On Monday, the Dothan Personnel Board voted unanimously to uphold Former Captain Keith Gray’s termination from the Dothan Police Department. After an assault investigation involving Outcast Motorcycle Club, Dothan Police fired Gray in September for allegedly violating department rules.

Gray said those allegations are not true.

“I’ve done nothing but try to do my best and excel and for people to try and take words, and cut them, and twist them and make things appear one way, as my brother said, the truth is going to be there,” said Gray.

Now, friends and family are stepping in to show support. Sean Long, a friend of Gray, counteracted an article he believed was opinionated. He said Gray's association with Outcast Motorcycle Club was only on behalf of Bama Boys—a motorcycle club based in Dothan.

“If you want to sit there and take and say just because he's a member of this organization, they're all bad. That's not always the case,” said Long.

However, Dothan Police Chief Greg Benton said if Gray had done nothing wrong, he would still have his job.

“You can't hang around known felons. And you cannot do everything that you want to do and be an employee with the city of Dothan’s Police Department,” Chief Benton said.

Going forward, Gray said he will not abandon his involvement with Bama Boys and will appeal the board's decision. His attorney, Sonya Edwards, said they will file a notice of appeal to the Houston County Circuit court on Tuesday.

Grounds for Gray’s termination also included pornographic websites found on his work cell phone and using department computer programs for personal use.
