The new park, located off Ross Clark Circle, will be part of the Forever Wild program.
It will have hiking, biking and walking trails.
The program preserves natural habitats.
Once land becomes part of the Forever Wild Program, it can never be developed.
Forever Wild has been around for 30 years.
And last Fall the people voted to keep it going.
"It will provide an opporutinty for people to walk and show their kids what the woods is really like and what nature is all about because most of the time we think about parks and green space and ball fields," said Dothan City Manager Mike West.
Dothan will be submitting its proposal to be part of the Forever Wild Program to the City Commissoners on Tuesday.
If they endorse it, the plan will go to Forever Wild for their approval.
