On November 16, 2012 the Houston County Sheriff's Office received information that Franklin Lee Whaples was in possession of child pornography.

The Houston County Sheriff's Office investigated the report and recovered a smart phone that belonged to Franklin Whaples and executed a search warrant that revealed evidence of nude photos of a minor female and photos of a male genital nudity that had been sent to the minor.

Franklin Lee Whaples a 48 year old male of Dothan, Al. was charged with (3) counts of Possession Obscene Material under 17 years of age and (1) charge of Transmitting Obscene Material to a Child using a Computer.

Franklin Lee Whaples was transported to the Houston County Jail and held on $50,000.00 bond for each charge, a total of $200,000.00 bond.

This investigation is still on-going and may lead to additional charges.
