Dothan Fire Dept. to get Upgraded Software

The city's fire department will soon get new, updated software.

Tuesday Dothan city commissioners agreed to enter into a contract with Firehouse Software.

The new updated software will allow the city's fire department to report all fire responses and records all at once.

"We're making a little more than 11,000 calls a year here in the city of Dothan from our fire department, about 7500 of those are medical responses. So 7500 times a year we're having to dual entry all of the data from these responses. Being able to put it in one package where we can transmit it more readily is a great benefit to our members," said Dothan Fire Department's Battalion Chief Chris Etheredge

Officials say the new software will increase efficiency and accuracy throughout the department.
The software will cost $185,375.
