Dothan City Commission candidates had the opportunity to share their platforms Thursday.
The Houston County Republican Women held a forum during their regular meeting.
Candidates were allowed to speak for about five minutes.
Many shared their qualifications and what they would like to see happen in their district.
Leaders say these forums are important for the circle city.
"To educate folks so we know where they stand, what their platform is. To get a better feel for the candidates of who we need to be electing into these important positions," said Houston County Republican Women President Valerie Judah.
Districts 1, 2, and 4 are the only contested races. The election is set for August 6th.
