UPDATE: False Alarm at Cottonwood School

At Cottonwood High School leads to the arrest of a juvenile.

Cottonwood Police officials say that the K-9 unit found a suspicious device in the car of a student in the high school's parking lot.

Police found bump keys and lock picks.

The student was arrested under the charge of unlawful possession of burglary tools.

"Based on information that the juvenile provided, we responded to the juvenile's residence and ceased some more suspicious material which was turned over to the Dothan Police Department Bomb Squad, currently there are no other current charges pending however the investigation is still open," said public safety director, Jim Smith.

Since the arrest, the juvenile has been released to the custody of a parent.


UPDATE: 2:30 p.m.

Police report a call for the bomb squad proved to be a false alarm at Cottonwood School. The Dothan Bomb Squad along with the Cottonwood Police Department and Houston County Sheriff's Department responded to the call around 1 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Authorities say the school is secure.
