DOTHAN,AL--It's a picture, District 1 candidate Kevin Dorsey says tells it all.
"and supporter Kevin Dorsey, I was a supporter."
Dorsey says in 2009 after losing the race for district 1. He agreed to endorse James Reading during the run-off.
"I endorsed him and four years later he would endorse me."
Dorsey says Reading didn't hold up his side of the bargin.
"Mr reading was like my father figure my mentor I confinded in him with a lot I really looked up to him, it was a promise made."
Did you ask him why he's running, I thought we made this deal?
Actually I spoke to him and he just said...I don't know, Dorsey said.
-So he didn't have a response?-
"No good response," said Dorsey.
Commissioner Reading says there's more than just what's on the surface.
"There are three sides to every story, there's going to be my side, their side and somewhere in between there's the truth."
-Is what he's saying the truth or is it false?-
"I've said all i'm going to say I'm not mud slinging, the truth always prevails."
Reading says he doesn't deny his friendship with Dorsey.
-Did you know him before this campaign?-
"Sure," said Reading.
-Were you guys friends? Were you a mentor to him?-
"i tried to be," said Reading.
When asked how he feels about Dorsey's accusations...
"That's all I'm going to say about it," Readinf said.
Dorsey say's his reason for coming forward isn't to run a negative campaign.
"I'm not slinging mud i'm just going off of a promise he made me because of a renege on the promise now were' going to waste tax payers dollars on a runoff election."
Reading says within the next few weeks he's just focused on getting people back to the polls for the run-off.
The run-off election for district one is September 17th.
