OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) -- Opelika will soon be home to a distillery that will produce an Alabama-style whiskey and other drinks.
Reports say that the John Emerald Distilling Co. is set to open early next year.
The distillery will be run by father and son John and Jimmy Sharp and will be located across the street from Opelika's downtown events center.
Jimmy Sharp said the pair expects to ship their product statewide, and expand to neighboring states and beyond later.
