A ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday at the Billy Adkins Community Center officially opened the Billy Adkins Park in Daleville.
DALEVILLE -- As classes are winding down, it will not be long before parents will want to make plans for their children during the summer months.
The Daleville Department of Recreation invites parents of children that are entering first grade through 18 years old to sign up for the summer program at the Billy Adkins Center for just $40.00 per child a week.
The teens can come and go as they please, and the younger children are invited to the center from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The center's director said this program will help them stay both mentally and physically active all summer.
"We're going to offer some science, technology and math programs, and make it in a fun environment so they can play sports, and learn teamwork and camaraderie," Director Marie Sanders said. "They will have a great time this summer and be excited and ready to go back to school."
Camp counselors are helping to care for the children during the program.
For parents looking to sign their children up, call the Billy Adkins Community Center at 334-598-3111, log onto the Daleville Recreation Department's Facebook or stop by the center.
