DALEVILLE -- The Daleville Dept. of Public Safety implemented a new program on March 1st. The Award Recognition Program allows the community to nominate police, EMT and fire departments, as well as dispatchers, for honorary ribbons.
If community members see members of the department going above and beyond the call of duty, they can stop into the office, fill out a nomination form and submit it. A review committee will look at the forms and award department members as they see fit.
Daleville Department of Public Safety Officer Noah Suiter said he appreciates the program and the community's thankfulness, but he said it is just part of his job.
"It's our obligation to the community to do such a thing, just because someone says it's above and beyond the call of duty, I don't think it is," Suiter said. "It's our job to protect our community and citizens of Alabama."
