An area veteran receives a top honor.
Art Miller was named veteran of the year at the annual Disabled American Veterans conference this month in Montgomery.
He received the award for his amount of charity work with the local DAV where he drives a van. But the fundraising events that Miller is a part of helps out not only local veterans, but also the community.
Art Miller said, “"Even though we served our country and were away from home. I spent 20+ years in the military, a lot of it overseas. We come back and it is time for us to give back."
He will be in the Veterans Day Parade in Birmingham, which is one of the largest in the country.
