(Dothan,AL)--A Zion Chapel High School student with cystic fibrosis was told a few days ago she wouldn't be able to graduate.

18-year-old Virginia "Gin" Miley has been battling the disease her whole life, but was determined to walk despite her doctor's orders.

"Sunday I was rushed to a hospital in Birmingham, " Miley said. "I have felt bad all week, but I knew this was something I had to do," she said.

Miley said graduating has been her life's dream and was happy to accept her diploma.

"It was a very rewarding experience," Miley said. "I did it for me, my family, and my friend Charlie."

Miley plans on dedicating the rest of her life to the CF foundation and helping others.
