DOTHAN, AL---In order to achieve that perfect dish you need ingredients that blend well, but how does that relate to leading and following?

"Just like how cooking uses different ingredients to make a finished product every individual follower has individual traits that when combined accomplishes the group's goal," said Dothan High School senior Ivan Thompson.

Thompson says this concept brings on a new way of thinking.

"It makes a lot of sense really."

While chopping it up in the kitchen, the students learn how various ingredients and flavors work together to create the end result.

"We're going to have an awesome example today of the parts in each meal and the members in each group," said Northview High School senior Lauren McGainey.

That in return shows the importance of the follower role in some cases.

"Without followers there will technically be no leaders and being a leader involves knowing when to be a follower," said Thompson.

There's an added bonus to the experience besides improving their cooking skills...once the food is done the students will deliver it to mama tina's mission house.

"We also get a great example to serve people and that's what leaders are, they serve others," McGainey said.

The students broke up into groups to complete Wednesday's menu which was dinner and dessert.

Next week the students will discuss personal presentation and etiquette.
