Community leaders want to keep Ala. farmers market

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A group of citizens and community
leaders associated with the Fairview Avenue Farmer's Market in
Montgomery wants to keep it open.

They're calling on politicians to reconsider the decision to
close the market and held a meeting on Sunday to voice their
support.

Backers want Agriculture Commissioner John McMillan to give them
90 days to come up with a plan to keep the market open.

Last week, McMillan announced the closing of two Montgomery
farmers markets. He said both are operating at a significant loss.
