The Bennett Group and the Community Development Advisory Board were working hard tonight to turn a pumpkin into a carriage.
That 'pumpkin' is an old rundown school building and the 'carriage' could be a new senior assisted living facility.
The project developers here are the Bennett group.
They've hatched a plan to make the run down school building an assisted living facility for seniors 55 and up.
But before they can do anything, they need money.
Fourteen million is the total they're discussing.
They're not using grants and are working in a low income area of Dothan.
The group wants to apply for a section 108 loan.
That's part of the federal government's Community Development Block Grant program or CDBG.
It gives municipalities funding for certain economic projects.
This meeting was for the developers to see if the advisory board would support the application for the loan.
However, if the loan couldn't be paid back, it would fall on the advisory board's shoulders.
