MORROW, Ga. (AP) -- Clayton State University plans to host a talk
on immigration.
The talk on Friday is part of an ongoing partnership between the
university and The New York Times. The talk is titled "E-verify:
Illegal Latinos Between Left & Right and All Stripes." It will be
facilitated by Assistant Professor of Spanish Khedija Gadhoum.
E-Verify is a federal database that allows enrolled employers to
check the eligibility of new hires to work in the U.S. Georgia's
new law targeting illegal immigration mandates that certain
employers use the database. All employers with more than 10
employees will be required to do the checks by July 2013.
The event is free and open to the public.
