When the Ashford Youth Sports Association needed new equipment, two coordinators decided to combine two good ideas.
A fundraiser and a walk for a cure.
Both lost parents to Lupus, a disease that affects the auto-immune system and can attack any part of the body.
Coordinator Estella Mcgriff says said, “I was really young and I didn't understand what she was going through. I always wanted to do something in her memory.”
Mcgriff hopes her small steps will help those who continue to battle the disease move forward.
The walk raised around $1500. More than half will be sent to the Lupus Foundation. The rest will be used by the Ashford Youth Sports Association.
