The next time you stand in line at the tag office you'll need some more documentation.

According to the 2013 Alabama Tag Renewal Requirements under the new Mandatory Liability Insurance Law,
You must have a current insurance card with your policy number and the insurance company's number.
You must also have a valid ID for each person listed on the car's registration and your renewal notice or car's registration.

Houston County Probate Judge Patrick Davenport recently made changes to the office.
Instead of standing in one line for all transactions there are now two lines.
One for renewals and one for title transactions.

"We decided to modify the line by trying to expedite the public allowing the people who have purchased vehicles to go through a separate title transaction line might expedite the process," explained Judge Davenport.

Judge Davenport also wants people to provide an email address so next year they'll be able to renew online.
