More full-time jobs are coming to the Dale County jail.
This move by the Dale County Commission is to fix the amount of overtime hours by part-time employees. It is also to meet the Affordable Care Act, that act will require 95 percent of employees working more than 30 hours per week to be offered health insurance.
Eight of the jail's current part-time workers will now be full-time.
Dale Co. Commission Chairman Mark Blankenship said, "We hope it will slow down the turnover in the jail. We have a lot of people come and go because we had no benefits associated with these temporary positions."
The new schedules are expected to add an estimated 48-thousand dollars each year to the county's expenses.
