Breaking: Early Morning Fire Destroys a Cowarts Home

UPDATE at 6:11 a.m. :

A Cowarts home has burned to the ground this morning.

Cowarts volunteer firefighter officials say just after four Wednesday morning, they received a report of a house fire on North Broad Street at Railroad Road.

Ashford Volunteer Fire and Ashford Rescue also responded to the fire.

The home was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.

The homeowner was inside when the fire started, but he was able to escape unharmed.

It's not clear what caused the fire, but some witnesses say it seemed to explode.

The fire was under control by 5 o'clock, but officials say it will take some time for it be completely out.

Then, they will be able to begin a more thorough investigation to the cause.

The home is deemed a total loss.
