BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Birmingham police say their bomb squad will examine a device found in a car at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport terminal.
The discovery of the device Sunday shut down airport traffic and sent passengers walking about a mile to catch rides.
Birmingham Police Sgt. Johnny Williams says the device was found
in a Mercedes Benz M-Class SUV parked in front of the terminal on
the upper level of the airport.
Williams says police have determined who owns the car and are in
the process of trying to make contact with that person.
Airport spokeswoman Toni Bast says a portion of the airport was
evacuated and traffic into the airport was stopped for almost three
