Across the nation, blood donations are at a critical low.
Today, the Red Cross held a blood drive at the Wiregrass Commons Mall.
Leaders say donations were down 10 percent nationwide in June. That translates to 50,000 fewer donations.
Many officials say the shortage could be because people are travelling during the summer.
One Dothan man said donating is a family tradition.
“I grew up watching my folks go off to donate. It was just a natural thing. It's very easy to donate. You just have to make the decision that it's important to you,” said David Jamison, Dothan.
There are plenty of opportunities to give.
Both LifeSouth and the Red Cross have donation sites available.
