Birmingham is launching a tornado recovery program aimed at underinsured and uninsured homeowners, renters and the creation of a master plan to rebuild and restore.

Though much of the focus will be on providing financial assistance to homeowners and renters, leaders also want to help determine how the new Pratt City, which was virtually destroyed by an April 27th tornado, will look.

The mayor visited the neighborhood with the city attorney, chief of staff and directors of planning and engineering, community development and finance.

Survivors of the recent series of Alabama storms have two weeks remaining to register for federal disaster assistance.

Survivors must register by Monday, June 27th.
