Barfield Bill Receives Final Passage

The families of Alabama soldiers killed while serving our country will be getting state tax help.

The 'Jason Barfield' bill got final approval in the state House Wednesday.

The bill is in honor of fallen Ashford Marine Lance Corporal Jason Barfield who was killed in Afghanistan last year.

Under the bill, Alabama will offer state tax help to families of dead servicemen or women within one year of their deaths.

The bill now heads to Governor Robert Bentley for his signature.
