The Jason Barfield Bill has passed and will now help families of fallen soldiers.

Lance Corporal Jason Barfield of Ashford was killed in Afghanistan back in October.

Federal income tax forgiveness for those killed in action was available, but there wasn't any for state income tax in Alabama.

State senator Harri Anne smith of Slocomb set out to change that, after being acquitted of all charges in the bingo corruption retrial.
