MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A Baldwin County man has been sentenced to
19 and a half years in federal prison for two 2008 bank robberies.
U.S. District Judge Ginny Granade granted a request last week by prosecutors that Gregory William Baber's sentence be lighter than the 39 years under guidelines because he agreed to testify against his co-defendants. The 29-year-old Baber of Fairhope pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $120,000 in two separate heists.
Prosecutors say he and his accomplices were heavily armed and clad in body armor during the robberies.
The two other defendants have also pleaded guilty to the charges. They have not yet been sentenced.
