Attorneys Select Mental Exam Date for Ala. Teen

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) -- Attorneys have requested that Hammad Memon, the teen accused of fatally shooting a classmate in 2010, undergo a psychological evaluation next month.

Memon is accused of fatally shooting Todd Brown at Discovery Middle School in Madison during a class change when he was 14.

Reports say 17-year-old Memon's attorneys plan to use an insanity defense at trial, and have asked that an examination be conducted on Feb. 15.

Memon is accused of fatally shooting Todd Brown at Discovery Middle School in Madison during a class change when he was 14.

The teen's bond was revoked in April after he and his mother were arrested at a Texas bus station. Authorities suspected they were trying to flee the country ahead of the trial. Memon's father, Iqbal, was arrested for allegedly helping them.

Memon is being held in the Huntsville-Madison County Metro Jail and his parents are out on bond.
