A routine call to Dothan police turns into a dangerous situation.
An officer was investigating an assault at Cayman Bay Mobile Estates around 11 this morning.
When he arrived, the officer confronted the suspect who was holding a plastic knife.
The suspect's father jumped in and helped the police officer.
The suspect was then handcuffed and taken into custody.
The officer was treated at the hospital and released for minor injuries.
Police are not releasing anymore details at this time.
