MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The Republican caucuses of the Alabama House and Senate have endorsed a package of jobs-related bills they intend to pass in the legislative session starting Feb. 7.

House Speaker Mike Hubbard and Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh outlined the bills at a news conference Wednesday in Montgomery. They said passing the bills will be their top priority.

The package includes a constitutional amendment to allow the governor and his Alabama Development Office director more flexibility in offering tax incentives. Any changes currently have to be approved by the Legislature.

The package also includes tax credits for hiring veterans recently returned from war, changes in two-year colleges to make sure they are training the workers that industries need, and a new program to provide loans for small business development.
