Alabama Honors Fallen Servicemen and Women

Alabama honored those servicemen and women who've fallen in the War on Terror Wednesday.

Governor Bob Riley joined family members of the fallen in Montgomery, accepting a flag that was designed by the father of a soldier killed in Iraq.

The names and photographs of seven more Alabamians who died in the War on Terror since November 2009 were added to the state's memorial to fallen heroes.

"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." - Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC SSG Chapman, Brian 2BCT 101st (AA) Airborne Dothan Al
