Alabama GOP Leaders to Announce 2012 Agenda

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- The Republican leaders of the Alabama Legislature are headed to Birmingham to preview their legislative goals for 2012.

A spokesman for Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh and House Speaker Mike Hubbard says they are planning a news conference
Monday at Vulcan Park to discuss the legislative session starting Feb. 7.

That session will mark Republicans' second year of being in control of the state Legislature. They wrested control from Democrats in the 2010 elections. The Republicans have a super majority in the House and Senate, which makes it easier to accomplish their goals.
