MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama first lady Dianne Bentley has started collecting quilts and blankets as part of her "Blankets with a Blessing" program during the holiday season to provide quilts and blankets to people in need.
The quilts and blankets can be dropped off at the Governor's Mansion guard gate or the Governor's Mansion gift shop on Finley Avenue in Montgomery.The donations will be accepted until Nov. 18.
Since the program began in 2004, blankets and quilts have been provided to homeless and displaced families during the holiday season. Last year Mrs. Bentley donated blankets to SafeHouse, a Shelby County domestic violence shelter.
She has not announced where this year's quilts and blankets will be donated.
