Alabama News Dec 2: Gulf Shores Considers Scuba Diving Attraction

GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) -- Tourism officials in southern Alabama are considering establishing a year-round scuba diving attraction on the Gulf Coast. Officials say a study in Florida's panhandle found that every dollar invested in creating artificial reefs returned about $130 dollars through tourism-related businesses.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Even though the 2014 elections are nearly two years away, people are already sizing up their chances of winning two state Capitol offices where the incumbents can't run again. State Auditor Samantha Shaw and Secretary of State Beth Chapman are both term-limited.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The Governor's Mansion in Montgomery is decorated for Christmas and will be open for free public tours on the next three Monday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. Decorators from across the state volunteered to decorate the mansion and the neighboring Hill House for the holidays.
