MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Gov. Robert Bentley says he will seek a second term.
Bentley said Tuesday he's proud of the economic progress Alabama has made in the last two years, and he wants to continue that in a second term.
Alabama's unemployment rate was 9.3 percent when Bentley took office in January 2011 and is now 7.3 percent.
He said companies have announced plans to create 38,000 jobs since he took office.
Bentley is not taking a salary as governor because he made a campaign promise in the 2010 election not to take a salary until unemployment falls to 5.2 percent.
