ALEXANDRIA, Ala. (AP) -- The Alabama governor's office says Gov. Robert Bentley will be in Alexandria on Monday to address members of the Alabama National Guard's 1312th Engineer Detachment at a departure ceremony.
The detachment has been called to active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. The group will conduct concrete operations in Afghanistan and is expected to be deployed for a year. The detachment's home is on Pelham Range, an Alabama National Guard training area in Alexandria.
The ceremony will be held at the Pelham Range fire station at
noon.
