MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The Alabama Education Association is planning what it's calling a "Save Our Schools" rally at the state Capitol on April 14.
AEA officials say they are having it on a Saturday to allow more participation by teachers and other school workers, and they are organizing buses to carry people to the event.
The rally comes amid a legislative session where AEA has been fighting several bills, including legalizing charter schools and using income tax collections to finance new industries. AEA officials said their message will be its time to invest in public schools rather than cutting funding.
