WHITE PLAINS, Ala. (AP) -- A coalition of conservationists and the Alabama Farmers Federation are using a mobile simulator to teach students the value of the farming industry.

Reports say the simulator, called Ag in Action, has been traveling through the state since September and is expected to travel to Georgia as well.

Seven county conservation groups teamed up with the farmer's federation to create the mobile teaching tool. Etowah County Soil and Conservation member Jennifer Childers says officials wanted to give children a hands-on way to learn more about agriculture. The simulator features lessons on several crops, how to milk a cow and how a cotton gin works.

St. Clair County Soil and Conservation member Charity Mitcham says the tool could also help show students the importance of supporting local farms.
