MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Authorities say a federal grand jury in Montgomery has returned an indictment charging a woman with aggravated identity theft and theft of government money.

The Justice Department and the Internal Revenue Service on Tuesday announced the charges against LaQuanta Clayton.

The indictment accuses Clayton of using stolen identity information to facilitate the theft of federal tax refunds. It was not known Tuesday whether she has an attorney in the case.

Authorities say Clayton used the stolen identity information to open bank accounts at the bank where she was working and then stole federal tax refunds that were deposited into the bank accounts.
