ATHENS, Ala. (AP) -- An Alabama man charged with capital murder in the 2011 slaying of a woman found inside an abandoned school will stand trial this summer.
Reports say 49-year-old Lamar Wallace Anderson of Athens is scheduled to go on trial August 26 in Limestone County Circuit Court.
Anderson is charged with capital murder in the beating and stabbing death of his ex-girlfriend, 26-year-old Wendy Defoe Bond. Her body was found in March 2011 inside the crumbling ruins of Trinity High School, which had been closed since 1970.
Court records say the woman was killed with a knife, a piece of aluminum and her killer's fists. Authorities say Bond had obtained a protection-from-abuse order against Anderson about two months before her death.
