The City of Abbeville is welcoming America’s first symbol of freedom, the "Liberty Tree".
Influential men like Paul Revere and John Hancock met under a great American elm known as the "Liberty Tree" to plan the Boston Tea Party.
Now communities across the country including Abbeville are dedicating tree memorials to celebrate the nation's history.
"Trees are very important for beautification, sound buffers, psychological, people walking round looking at the trees and this tree is going to outlive us,” says Mayor Pro-tem Lucky Armstrong.
This tree was donated by The Liberty Tree Society and is placed at the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery.
