Abbeville Stabbing Case Moves to Grand Jury

ABBEVILLE, AL-- We are hearing from the mother of an Abbeville teenager fatally stabbed.

17-year-old Tyric Brown was killed in April outside of a block party.

Police arrested 17-year-old Marquise Barwick and 17-year-old Gregory Spann and 18-year-old Montrez Brown. They had a hearing in court yesterday.

A judge ruled there is enough evidence to move the case forward.

Tyric’s mother said it was hard to see the suspects in court since they used to be friend’s of her son and would often visit her home.

Elaine Blackshire, Tyric's mother said, “I’m praying for justice. You know my son is not on trial. He’s paid his dues with his life, the ultimate. And if Tyric’s death has saved one child then his life was not in vain.”

The next court appearance for the suspects will be in June. The case goes to a grand jury where evidence will be reviewed and determined if there is enough for a formal charge.
