I appreciate what AG King does and has done for law enforcement in the past but it really makes me sick when he calls himself the "chief law enforcement officer in the state" and when district attorneys call themselfs the "chief law enforcement officer of the county". Lets get something clear. They are NOT law enforcement officers. The prosecute criminal who are arrested by law enforcement officers. Neither the AG or any DA have any arrest power and can only ask a grand jury or police, deputies, troopers, etc. to enforce the law. This is not a problem in Houston Co. because we have such a lawful and respectable DA. I have seen this with the AG for years now and the DA in Covington county has that idea in his head as well. The chief law enforcement officer in a county is the Sheriff and NO ONE else. The state is set up differently so that there is a seperation of powers and there is no one individual with ultimate power unless ordered by the Governor under certain circumstaces.
