A New Chain of Command Takes Over Army Aviation at Fort Rucker

FORT RUCKER -- During a Change of Command and Change of Responsibility Ceremony at Fort Rucker on Thursday, BG Michael Lundy accepted the position of Commanding General of the United States Army Aviation Center of Excellence. Major General Kevin Mangum spent the past two years in this role.

Command Sergeant Major Eric Thom is taking over for Aviation Branch CSM James Thomson Jr.

During the Change of Command Ceremony, the flag is passed between the old commander and the new, signifying the transfer of leadership.

Maj. Gen. Mangum is being appointed to a three star lieutenant general. His next assignment is serving at the Deputy Commanding General and Chief of Staff for the United States Army Training and Doctrine Command at joint base Langley-Eustis Virginia.

CSM James Thomson has not been given his next assignment at this time.
