TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tuscaloosa County authorities are
investigating the death of a 19-month-old girl who apparently died
in sweltering heat after being trapped in a car.

Capt. Loyd Baker, commander of the Tuscaloosa County Homicide
Unit, said Monday the death of the unidentified girl appears to be
heat-related, but an investigation is being conducted to determine
the cause.

He said the girl's young siblings had been getting things out of the car when the 19-month-old apparently was left inside without family members realizing it.

Baker said the father searched the house at the Echola community
near Gordo and eventually found the girl on the floor of the car by
the front passenger seat.

He says the doors were not locked, but were closed along with the windows.

...it was NOT the responsibility of the younger siblings to make sure she was gotten out of the car. It was the ADULTS responsibility. Those children have to live with this for the rest of their lives...all because the ADULTS made children do their job. The adults deserve more punishment that this justice system will allow. Those poor children...their lives will be so affected...permanently.

I think it is very sad not to miss a 19 mo. old that should have been the first thing they took out the car . they should be made to answer for their action...

I've been following this story in the Tuscaloosa news-The child was with her father and her step mother when this happened. Her mother was not involved. I sincerely hope that they prosecute the 2 adults that were supposed to be watching this precious angel to the fullest extent of the law.

What kind of parents did this poor child have not to have realized a 19 month old child was missing? I believe the parents should be charged with murder!
