CROSSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A 16-month-old child drowned after falling into a swimming pool in DeKalb County.
Authorities say that both mother and child were asleep Friday night in their Crossville home but the child woke up and wandered outside to the swimming pool area. He fell in at about 8:30 p.m.
DeKalb County Chief Deputy Michael Edmondson said he didn't believe there would be any charges filed, calling the incident "just a tragic accident."
The child was taken to Marshall Medical Center South in Boaz where he was pronounced dead.
